Cooper’s article reports on the G20 Summit Obama attended on Wednesday in London. It featured 20 world leaders who are attempting to straighten-out global economic woes. Her article sums-up some of the mixed reviews of Obama’s trip to London for the meeting. She points out that President Nicolas Sarkozy of France called Obama “very helpful” when Obama had to act as mediator between an argument over tax havens that arose between the French leader and President Hu Jintao. Reportedly, some European news outlets gave Obama some poor reviews, saying that he “seemed aloof.”
I’d say that despite some mixed reviews, Obama is doing a good job. The fact that he recognizes that Great Britain and the United States shouldn’t be the only ones setting the rules for the global economy is a good thing that could strengthen ties between the United States and several other countries and could potentially open doors for new economic policies to be shared and implemented. This meeting has already shown progress compared to the similar meeting held during the Great Depression, and with hard work, cooperation and patience, good changes could be in the future.

I think it is really appalling that people have written poor crticism on Obama. Do they know what Bush left for him? Bush left a a devastating war, a terrible economy, and a bad relationships with other nations.
ReplyDeleteObama has already patched up some of those foreign relationships by being open-minded and patient. The economy is in serious need of a renovation, but he has definitely improved it for the time being. The war is still questionable, but Obama has made convincing promises that a large amount of troops will begin coming home within a year or two.
Chloe's right, we all have to cooperate and have patience, and good things will come.
